This self-paced certification program involves a combination of online training, an in-person immersive retreat, and a supervised practicum. Psychedelic integration is the process of understanding and applying insights from a psychedelic experience to create lasting personal growth. Without integration, these experiences can feel confusing, overwhelming, or disconnected from daily life.

At the School of Psychedelics, we use a unique approach called Embodied Imagination® for Psychedelic Integration—a method designed to help people make sense of their experiences in a deeper, more lasting way.
What you’ll learn in this certification
Program structure
Part 1. Online Training
This training covers eight key psychedelic medicines, their contraindications, history, and indigenous perspectives, empowering those you serve to make safe, ethical and meaningful choices.
Part 2. Immersive Retreat
Deepen your understanding of integration techniques through hands-on training in the Embodied Imagination® for Psychedelic Integration method. This method can also be applied to working with dreams. The retreat offers a transformative opportunity to practice real-world applications in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Part 3. Supervised Practicum
A supervised training experience focusing on real-world experience and applications and the professional practice of Embodied Imagination® for Psychedelic Integration and Preparation. Students will work directly with clients to apply preparation and integration techniques while receiving personalized mentorship and feedback.

Dr. Katherine Lawson is an Integrative Mental Health Specialist, certified Embodied Imagination® practitioner, psycho-spiritual counselor, author and international speaker with nearly two decades of experience at the forefront of psychedelic education and healing. Recognised as a thought leader in the field, Dr. Lawson blends modern psychology, ancient traditions, and personal insight to create holistic frameworks for healing.
Motivated by her own life experiences as a cancer survivor and someone who has navigated early childhood trauma, grief, and loss, Dr. Lawson founded this program to empower others with the tools needed to prepare for and integrate psychedelic experiences safely and ethically. Her mission is to make psychedelic healing accessible and transformative for practitioners, clients, and communities alike.

Program certificate & scope
Upon completion of the certification program, you will earn the designation of Certified Embodied Imagination® for Psychedelic Integration Practitioner. This training provides education on preparation and integration, which can be legally applied within your professional scope while adhering to ethical guidelines. However, it does not grant authorization to administer or facilitate psychedelic experiences.
No, this training does not involve administering or participating in psychedelic journeys, nor does it train you to guide or facilitate psychedelic experiences. Instead, it utilizes the Embodied Imagination® for Psychedelic Integraton method to explore transformative states of consciousness and focuses specifically on preparing clients before their experiences and supporting their integration afterward. This powerful psycho-somatic approach can open gateways to profound altered states without the use of substances.
Applying & enrollment
There are no strict prerequisites beyond watching our free training, which is required for all program components. The program is designed for healthcare professionals, coaches, healing practitioners, and others passionate about supporting transformative experiences. After the free training:
- For the full certification: Complete an application and discovery call
- For online training only: Enroll directly after watching the free training
- For the immersive retreat: Complete an application
- For the supervised practicum: Available only after completing the online training and retreat
While no specific background or psychedelic experience is required, we expect a high level of engagement and academic rigor. What's most important is being open-minded, non-judgmental, and compassionate toward existential processes and altered states of consciousness.
Yes, if you need to update your application, please contact us as soon as possible. The Online training and Immersive retreat can be taken as standalone courses, but the Supervised Practicum is only available to students pursuing the full certification.
Program structure & delivery
The Online Training and Supervised Practicum are entirely remote, requiring a reliable internet connection, a computer with video capability, and access to our online learning platform. The Immersive Retreat includes two weeks of online preparation work followed by six days of in-person training at one of our retreat locations. We maintain smaller cohort sizes to ensure personalized attention and meaningful community connections. All required materials are included in the course and available online, with no need to purchase additional textbooks.
You can take the course at your own pace. We cycle through live sessions on a monthly basis, so if you miss one, you can attend when it's offered again. Students have access to course materials for six months after completing the program.
Immersive retreat details
The retreat package includes room and board, wellness activities, and training sessions. Airfare and other travel expenses are not included. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with upgrade options and optional services such as massage etc. available for additional fees. Immersive Retreats are offered several times throughout the year in different locations, including Costa Rica and Portugal. Check our current schedule to find dates that work for your timeline.
Career outcomes & support
During the program, students have access to one-on-one sessions with their course facilitator, live Q&A sessions, and moderated peer discussions. After certification, graduates join our alumni community with access to continuing education, professional networking, and optional supervision sessions. Graduates of the full certification can be listed in our Practitioner Directory, connecting them with potential clients. The skills gained can be applied in therapy, coaching, healthcare, affiliation with psychedelic retreats, and other fields requiring psychedelic preparation and integration.
Fees & workload
We offer flexible payment plans, with complete pricing details provided in our free training. This approach ensures you understand the program's full value before making a financial commitment. The program requires approximately 3–7 hours per week plus a full dedicated week for the Immersive Retreat. The total duration varies based on your individual pace and retreat scheduling, with some students completing more quickly than others.
